Coming in 2024 as part of our new Community Hub.

As a Listening Ear Service Volunteer, you will provide a compassionate and empathetic presence for individuals seeking someone to talk to, share concerns, or navigate challenging situations. Your commitment to active listening and support will contribute to creating a caring and understanding environment within the church community.


Responsibilities:

– Offer a non-judgmental and empathetic listening ear to individuals facing challenges or seeking support.

– Create a safe and confidential space for open conversations and sharing.

– Respond with compassion and understanding, providing emotional support to those in need.

– Offer gentle guidance and resources when appropriate, directing individuals to professional help if necessary.

– Attend training sessions to enhance active listening skills and deepen understanding of various challenges.

– Collaborate with church leadership and pastoral care teams to coordinate support efforts.

– Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.

– Foster a culture of empathy, compassion, and care within the church community.

– Attend volunteer meetings to share experiences, receive support, and stay informed about community needs.


Qualifications:

– Excellent listening and communication skills.

– Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude.

– Respect for confidentiality and ethical standards in providing support.

– Reliability and punctuality in attending listening ear service hours.

– Willingness to undergo training to enhance active listening skills.

– Team-oriented mindset and a commitment to collaborative support efforts.

– Understanding and adherence to the church’s values and mission.

– Prior experience in counselling , pastoral care, or volunteer support roles is beneficial but not mandatory.
